I've never read that book.
I must drop shotgun a line and see if he has it, so I could borrow it.

there was a town somewhere in the free world that was only inhabited by witnesses?
who would run the town?
who would vote for the people that would run the town?
I suspect they would set themselves up the same way they are set up now.
They would appoint (by holy spirit-lol) an all male governing body
They would then give divine (lol) appointment to an all male body of elders
They would run everything the same way they run their own governmental affairs now.
This time around though, I suspect they really would build themselves real programmed stepford wives

here's today's news item out of the land downunder:.
labor targets junk food ads.
While their banning junk food ads during childrens prime time.. I was wondering if they could also take the pop machines out of the schools.
I went into the cafeteria in my sons elementary school and asked if I could by an apple or something like that. The cafeteria lady said, "Nope, no fruit. Got tired of carrying it here and having to throw it all out." Geez.. There big seller is good old pressed chicken nuggets.. ewww.

i'm trying to develop a more positive attitude, so i'm trying to look for the good in everything, even the wts.
i think jws are good for the economy because:.
1. they spend money in tim hortons which provides employment for people and helps boost the economy.

You made me laugh with this one,
6. Tassels. Per capita, Jehovah's Witnesses probably have more tassels on their shoes than any other group of people. If they all suddenly became inactive thousands of unemployed tassel makers, probably in third world countries, would likely starve.
I find that soooooo funny. I can't stop giggling.
good one walter

yeah, some of you may have recently noticed i am posting here much less than i used to (just as i am about to go jedi too... .
over the past few months, i have become so attached to jwd, mainly due to the fact that it is all the socializing i get while i am at work, that i had began to neglect my family time.
it felt really good the past weekend or two, to just stay in with the kids, or go out with the wife (serenity) and have a few drinks.. as good as it is to associate with ex-jws who know where i am coming from, it is even better to spend some time with those that are close to me.
I couldn't have said it better than you said it FMZ
Glad to see your family all enjoying time together.

no.....i'm not gittin all mushy and stuff.......but i want to know why.. during a visit with my sis, we discussed how some have trouble expressing affection with love to the ones closest to them such as spouses, parents, or children.
about a week or so later, i talk to a friend i used to work with and he's telling me of how he and his wife are like strangers.
i asked him if he made her feel loved.
I think too that it is a product of our upbringing.
However, I supposed, some people are just not as touchy feely as others. Just like some people need more peace, quiet and solitude whereas others like constant interaction and such.
I've lost too many people in my life and learned very quickly after being kicked out of the borg that if there is someone I feel close to, care for, and love... then I need to say it and show it.
No one knows what tomorrow could bring and those we truly love could be gone in an instant. I hug my kids and husband every day and tell them I love them every day. And also tell them "I love you" at the end of every phone conversation with them.. It's something I just have to do.
I never want my kids to grow up like I did and feel that their parent did not love them. They need to hear it, gumby... they just need to hear it and they just need to feel that mothers hug that only I can give them.

do you have anything in common with my opinion below?.
i've been thinking about being social, and using this discussion board.. since leaving the jws, i've been more social with different people.
after working all day, i really don't like to go out in the evenings.
Hi there
I'm kind of like you. I have a somewhat busy life, home, family, etc...and I like droppin' in here with my coffee in hand.
Talesin, described it very well in one of her posts.
she described the forum like walking into a coffee shop, with different people at all the different tables.
some regulars, some new. You can pull yourself up to a table and participate in a conversation, if it isn't a particular conversation that interests you then you can go to another table.
And of course there are tables that I rarely ever sit down and have a coffee at because it just isn't my cup of tea.
That kind of describes it to me.
